  • Big changes at MS – Sinofsky takes over Windows

Microsoft just posted a press release saying that Steve Sinofsky has been promoted to President of the Windows division. “Sinofsky assumes responsibility for the Windows business including both the engineering and marketing functions for Windows, Windows Live and Internet Explorer.”

At the same time, Bill Veghte, the current Senior VP of Windows Sales & Marketing “will be moving to a new leadership role in the company to be announced later this year.”

Curiously, Jon DeVaan – the brains behind Windows 7’s core – isn’t getting a new title. But he’s still in the techy driver’s seat. “Jon DeVaan will continue in his role as senior vice president, reporting to Sinofsky.” Hope he got some good stock options out of it.
