Firefox 3.5 Beta 4 and 3.0.10 Now Available
Posted on April 29th, 2009 at 05:42 3 commentsFor those of you who have beta tested Firefox 3.1 beta 3 back in mid-March, Mozilla has just released Firefox 3.5 Beta 4 on their beta page. The folks at Mozilla decided to make a version number change from 3.1 to 3.5 when beta 4 was going to be released.
And for those using Firefox 3.0 [yup, Woody has been reminding you Windows users to use Firefox], version 3.0.10 has been released at this Mozilla.com page. This one fixes one major security flaw mentioned in MFSA security bulletin 2009-23 and improves stability from the previous release of Firefox 3.0.

I just wanted to put it out there that Apple’s Safari is still the fastest browser in the world for both Mac and PC. Sorry if I sound like a sales rep, I just wanted to let people know that there is an alternative to IE if you don’t want Firefox.

Why is the very light blue font color used for the text for this page? It is very heard to read for old eyes.
Thanks,

Firefox 3.0.10 is on my computer, and it has no problems. I don’t know what plugins or hardware Colin is using, but on my laptop (by no means a powerful computer) Firefox fires up quickly and runs fast and smooth. I guess one’s mileage can vary, as with all things in computer software.
But to recommend the version of Safari which is ported to Windows XP, is not wise. This version has several unpatched security holes, and serves as a Cross-Platform vector for attacks (mostly corrupted scripts). Much more so than Firefox. And Google Chrome shares the same basic browser engine with Safari, so it is also insecure, according to many security experts.
That having been said, all browsers failed recent demonstrations, being hacked within minutes by people who knew how to do these things. A good firewall is thus essential, and some antispyware browser shields may also be useful.
