Windows 7 officially Released to Manufacturing
Posted on July 23rd, 2009 at 07:47 6 commentsLooks like they’ve gone and done it, Ollie.
Windows 7 has been officially released to manufacturing, with build 7600.16385.090713-1255. (At the same time, as expected, Windows Server 2008 R2 also RTMd.)
The 090713-1255 build has been available via torrents and on the newsgroups for about five days.
32-bit version MD5: c7102805815abb3b6b4796a8cc3fb008
64-bit version MD5: 4171999e05724d309a62104d83485d69
You can and should check the MD5 key for any downloaded file before you install it. That’s a simple procedure using the free MD5 Check 2.1 program from Angus Johnson.

Woody-
What is Windows Server 2008? I tried to look it up and it looks to me like something for business and you guru types.
Is this a program that the casual, novice PC user needs?
-
No, it’s for servers. Believe me, you don’t want to set up Windows Server 2008 in your house.

Hi Woody,
Can this release be used like the RC: untill March with a CD key? Or is this release just for pro’s who have an agreement with MS?
BJ
BTW; just set up Windows Home Server. Wouldn’t have succeeded without Windows Home Server for Dummies. Thanks for that!

Are you encouraging the download of leaked copies of Windows 7?
-
Absolutely. You have to make sure you get the MD5 right – to ensure you have the real thing – but I’ve been using leaked copies of Windows 7 for six months. Every book writer and magazine writer has. In spite of repeated promises from MS, the press never received a single official interim build of Win7, aside from the publicly available beta and RC editions.
Microsoft doesn’t lose any money on the deal – you still have to buy an activation key.

I’m not sure how long the product lasts in a keyless state, but remember that running Win7 without a key only turns your desktop black, and brings up obnoxious warning messages.
