I'm not sure how long the product lasts in a keyless state, but remember that running Win7 without a key only turns your desktop black, and brings up obnoxious warning messages.

Absolutely. You have to make sure you get the MD5 right - to ensure you have the real thing - but I've been using leaked copies of Windows 7 for six months. Every book writer and magazine writer has. In spite of repeated promises from MS, the press never received a single official interim build of Win7, aside from the publicly available beta and RC editions.

Microsoft doesn't lose any money on the deal - you still have to buy an activation key.

Hi Woody,

Can this release be used like the RC: untill March with a CD key? Or is this release just for pro's who have an agreement with MS?

BJ

BTW; just set up Windows Home Server. Wouldn't have succeeded without Windows Home Server for Dummies. Thanks for that!

No, it's for servers. Believe me, you don't want to set up Windows Server 2008 in your house.

Woody-

What is Windows Server 2008? I tried to look it up and it looks to me like something for business and you guru types.

Is this a program that the casual, novice PC user needs?
