   Thanks Woody. I noticed Outlook was performing poorly recently, but could not account for it. Now I know and have removed the update. Works just fine. Thanks again and Merry Christmas

   The update, KB2412171, did in fact remove the “Archive” choice from the File menu in Outlook 2007. It also removed the the Auto Archive settings from the Tools|Options menu on the “Other” tab. I uninstalled the update as decribed at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2412171. All the archive settings were once again available. I suggest visiting the page and reading the information there.

   The short of it is this:

   How to uninstall this update
   Click Start, and then click Run.
   Type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.

   Use one of the following procedures, depending on the operating system that you are running:

   Windows 7 and Windows Vista
   Click View installed updates.
   In the list of updates, locate and click update 2412171, and then click Uninstall.

   Windows XP
   Click to select the Show updates check box.
   In the list of updates, locate and click update 2412171, and then click Remove.

   Silly me – I didn’t check your website first!
   Interestingly, I turned off the Add-in for Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector and Outlook went back to normal speed.

   I uninstalled 2412171 and now outlook works great. Thanks for your info.
