  • What happens when Internet Explorer breaks big-time?

My latest missive at InfoWorld Tech Watch.

Scary, actually. Somebody flipped the wrong switch in Redmond, and suddenly thousands (maybe tens of thousands) of web sites got completely bogus “This web site has been reported as unsafe” warnings.

    1. All the more reason as commented at Infoworld, to use Firefox or Chrome browsers. Not that this is always a good workaround — what got messed up could have gone deeper that IE8, or could have affected some of the components which Firefox shares with IE (yes, there are quite a few of these, folks!). But this time, an alternative browser would have left the user wondering what all the fuss was about. Glad MS fixed this sooner rather than later.

    2. Woody, you really trust these chuckleheads to write Microsoft Security Essentials? I wouldn’t trust MS to tie its shoelaces properly.

Not sure I understand. You ran an online scan with Secunia? I didn’t realize they had online scans…
