Microsoft doesn’t give any details as to what has changed, but there’s a new PowerPoint viewer available on the MS download site.

I recommend that you download and install the viewer on any Windows XP that doesn’t have PowerPoint installed. And it’s not a bad idea to install it on any Win PC with older versions of PowerPoint – 2007, 2003, XP – just to ensure compatibility with all of the PowerPoint features, up to and including PowerPoint 2010.

    1. Ummmmm, Woody, I think I’m pre-Office; XP Pro.

    2. I dunno about that. I installed it and now I can’t open up any of the programs from the Microsoft Office 2010 beta.

If you uninstall the viewer, can you open the beta programs?

    4. Yep. Uninstalled it, but still wouldn’t work. Had to uninstall and reinstall, so now everything’s working fine. Don’t remember exactly what the error message was, though. Something like “Ordinance (ordnance?) 464 could not be found in the file gfx.dll” or something.

    5. Sorry Woody, but you mised the boat on this one. Four times larger than PPV 2k7 and a heck of a lot slower. Have you heard of the term:POC? Also, seems to break the sound in .pps files.

    6. This download was slow and installation took awhile, but once my firewall got used to it, the viewer worked flawlessly on Windows XP Pro, SP3. Tested on a PowerPoint Presentation with all the bells and whistles with no slowness or other problems. You got this one right, Woody.
