Windows 7 Ungodly Mode
Posted on January 4th, 2010 at 21:22 2 commentsPlease. No need to drop me a line. I didn’t post anything here about God Mode in Windows 7 because it’s a great name for a very dull, very old capability.
If you’ve fallen for the “God Mode” hype, take a look at the Windows Club post called God Mode: Old wine in new bottle. There you’ll see that God Mode is really just an old Vista trick of dubious value that also performed, somewhat differently, in Windows XP.
Definitely a yawner…

While it is an old hack, in my opinion its a big time saver.
Of course, I do a lot with my PC’s settings, and it works wonders when put on the desktop of all admin profiles on machines. Quick, easy timesaver.
Some people hate on keyboard shortcuts, too, though. I personally use them, as that is how I started. All keyboard, no mouse.
If a shortcut comes along and it can save me time in working on a PC (and with Vista and 7, several clicks are needed to access something that took 1 click in XP), then I’m all for it!

And it causes huge problems. Despite the warnings, I installed it on Vista x64, which basically crashed Explorer permanently (even after restart), basically crippling the user account. Since it was the owner account, trying to delete via another account simply results in access denied, and System Restore does nothing. Safe Mode results in the same crash.
Certainly not worth it to do something you could already do inside a different skin. =) Now to fix my ruined computer.
