Yes, I love my iPad2. I admit it.

    1. Try Air Video, Air Playit or Stream To Me, all these apps will stream to your iPad without copying first to the iPad. With Air Video, you can even stream to iPad outside your own wifi network. It will stream over 3G too if you have the 3G version of iPad.

Another good thing with these apps is that you don’t have to convert any your videos to mp4 before hand, these apps will convert and stream the same time. And you don’t need to rely on iTunes, just tell the app where is the folder that stores your videos.

Forget Teamviewers, try the Remote Desktop RDP app, you won’t need to run another program in your Windows computer, just set up the built in Remote Desktop Server in your PC and you will have control of your PC via the iPad.

I would not have purchased an iPad for myself, but I received one as a gift 10 months ago and I now take it with me everywhere.

Woody, I use iTunes daily for hours at a time on Windows 7 and I have a song library of more than 6300 songs. I have never had to kill iTunes. Have you tried troubleshooting the problem with iTunes support?

    3. @Steven -

I’ve heard from several people who, like you, have never had a problem with iTunes. Frankly, I think there’s something in the code that looks to see if the logged on user is named “Woody” and then it throws conniption fits. But maybe it’s just me.

My biggest problems always happen when I have the iPad attached and I’m trying to do something that eats up a lot of bandwidth – dragging a handful of movies into the iPad, or even opening the iTunes store while trying to do something else.

Anyway, I’ll live with it. If I get bugged enough, I’ll search out somebody over in Apple land….

    4. @Dix -

But in order to run the RDP Server under Win7, I have to be running Win7 Pro or Ultimate, yes?

Streaming is nice, but I take the iPad everywhere. I used the videos to calm down my one-year-old in the back of a taxi in Bali last month. Worth its weight in gold.

    5. @ Woody,

Totally agree, when the iPad is out of your local 3G coverage, then it will be costly using roaming. I’ve forgotten the years when my kid was a couple of years old. :)

How about XYPlayer or OPlayer apps, you don’t have to convert to mp4 before hand. I only tried OPlayer, the only problem is when
using Airplay to the Apple TV, it only transmits sound, no video to the TV.

      Cheers.

    6. Top iPaid app for Windows users:
      Don’t buy one.

Like the miniskirts which were briefly popular in the late 1960s, the iPad costs too much for the little you get, and it has a hard time covering the essentials of a laptop.

      iPad owners are fashion victims.

    7. Like you, I love my iPad. I have not had a problem with iTunes either, so its not just the owners name. I have Windows 7 on a 24′ Sony touch screen and am looking forward to Windows 8. I consider computer hardware and software as Tools not a religion so I have no problem mixing Microsoft and Apple together. (Ive even used Linux) If someone comes out with a serious iPad competitor, I’ll try it, but haven’t seen one yet that I like.
