Several of you have written to see if I’m OK. I haven’t been online much in the past two weeks, and there’s a reason why.

I just finished edits on “Windows 8 All-In-One For Dummies“. It’s a massive book – the largest book I’ve ever written. Windows 8 covers a HUGE span. The updates to the Windows 7-style desktop alone are extensive and (I gotta say it) very well done. Then there’s Metro – you either hate it or love it, I guess, but there’s no question it’s the future.

Like my other For Dummies books, this one gives you the straight story without the Microsoft Party Line. Unlike my other For Dummies books, this one goes into detail about setting up Google Apps, iPad support for Windows, Android, tying Facebook into Windows (and locking it down), and much more “outside the Win box.”

I’m going to hit another “Out to Lunch” break when the final RTM version hits — I’m guessing late next week. In the interim, I’m trying to catch up on all the things that have fallen by the wayside in the past five months.

For those of you who haven’t kept up on the projected dates for Windows 8 General Availability, Office 2013, Windows Phone and the like, Mary Jo has an excellent roundup in her ZDNet blog.
