For users who move a lot of files around, across several drives or partitions and with deep foldering, Windows 7′s Side-by-side Explorer views is a good attempt but ultimately doesn’t cut it.

Free 32-bit ‘xplorer2 Lite’ with dual panes + tabs + bookmarks is a fabulous tool.

Why on earth Microsoft can’t build dual-pane functionality into Explorer and make the Navigation pane a one-click button on the control bar utterly escapes me.

    2. Apps may be great for mobile employees in the field, but once you return to the office, it is necessary to get back to the corporate database, spreadsheet, etc. That cannot be done directly with ARM Tablet Apps. Not now, not any time soon. The corporate desktop is not going anywhere any time soon.
