Win7 recommended update KB 2647753 installing over and over and over
Posted on August 15th, 2012 at 07:26 3 commentsRight on cue, Susan Bradley pointed me to a problem that people are having with a “Recommended” patch issued August 14.
KB 2647753 is installing itself over and over again, according to many reports on the Microsoft Answers forum, and all over the web. Customers advize that they install the patch, reboot, and the patch is offered again – even though it shows up in the “installed patches” list. Repeatedly.
Apparently the solution is to apply an associated hotfix manually.
Life’s too short, folks. Hold off on applying those patches until they get thoroughly tested! And if you got caught with this one, and you can’t stand the idea of applying the same patch a few dozen times, go ahead and follow the steps in the MS Answers forum to rid yourself of the pesky patch prompt.

FYI, the KB2647753 is an update rollup for printing core components for Windows 7. Unless Win7 users are experiencing severe printing problems with certain printers, it’s best to postpone installing the KB2647753 update.
I’ll hold off installing KB2647753 until near the end of August BUT I’ll download the KB2647753 update thru MS Download Center instead of from Windows Update.

Got the over and over failed update message. Left off this patch and the others installed just fine. No printer problems. Do I really need this update? I am not a computer guru and it took me a while to figure out where to go for this solution. Ugg. Suzanne
