  • Definitive list of security improvements in Win10 Fall Creators Update, version 1709

    There’s a new post from ‘Softie Paul Bergson that goes into some detail about new security features in Win10 1709.

    It’s impressive. Many of the features are enhancements to older tools, like EMET and ASLR, that got a big boost in 1709. Others are completely new.

    The proof of the pudding, of course, is in the tasting. Will folks running 1709 see fewer malware intrusions? Remains to be seen, but the work from Microsoft is formidable.

    We’ve had a very rocky few months – and amazing array of buggy patches, dutifully vetted by the unpaid beta testers. Don’t volunteer your machine.

    You need to patch sooner or later, but there’s no reason to patch to Microsoft’s schedule.
