These are September Office updates. They will not be included in the DEFCON approval for the July/August patches. Unless you have a specific need to install them, you should wait until Susan Bradley (Patch Lady) approves them and any problems have been reported.

Obviously the Microsoft patch management team worked hard all holiday weekend on these patches and are so confident they are good to go that they decided to release a week early. I’m sure we all are confident this is the case.  🙂

You can totally disregard the fact that at this time the office 365 portal has a number of things broken right now. I can’t login to Exchange Admin from the portal right now. Email works but I can’t monitor anything right now.

      TM147626 – Can’t authenticate into Teams

      Status:Service degradation

User impact:Users may be unable to authenticate into Microsoft Teams

TM147598 – Microsoft Office documents issue

      Status:Service degradation

User impact:Users may be unable to view, open or create Microsoft Office documents within Microsoft Teams.

      Office 365 Portal 1 advisory

MO145919 – Issues accessing Office Online

      Status:Restoring service

User impact:Users may receive an unexpected pop-up regarding the license agreement.

      Still an issue ^

      Exchange Online 2 advisories

EX147321 – Sent emails not saving in shared folders

      Status:Restoring service

User impact:Users sending email via the ‘Send on Behalf’ feature may not see the email saved in the shared users’ Sent Items folder.

EX146811 – Security and Compliance Portal error

      Status:Service degradation

User impact:Admins attempting to use the Security and Compliance Portal may receive an error message.

You’d think they would want to address these issues before pushing more Office updates. Yes these are not Office 365 updates but they are Office updates none the less.

The Office non-Security updates are normally released on the first Tuesday of the month, so are not a week early. They are normally not available through Windows Update.
The Office Security updates are available through Windows Update on Patch Tuesday, the second Tuesday of the month.

These updates are for the “persistent” msi versions of Windows and do not include Office 365 and C2R, which have their own automatic patching.

          Oh..uh  I knew that…….yeah I knew that…..yeah I was just testing you …heh heh.    (running away)

Count me confused like a lot of folks. I’m still not clear about the patches coming that will be only released on Tuesday’s when there is a full moon. I heard it will be called the “double secret probation” patches. It will be for patches that have been released repeatedly and failed repeatedly.

WSUS v3.x won’t sync any more since today! So no update trouble here.
Must be an MS issue cause got confirmation that 2008R2 WSUS won’t sync in some other places as well 🙂

Not sure if this is your problem, but if you have TLS 1.0 disabled, then syncs between WSUS 3.x and MS will not work. We ran across that earlier this year after disabling TLS 1.0 on a 2008 R2 server. I ended up migrated the WSUS over to a 2012 R2 server (WSUS v6.3).

The Office 2010 update KB4092436 is unchecked on my Windows 7 x64 desktop, with 5 other Office 2010 updates checked.I haven’t installed any of them yet.

Update: I’ve installed the five checked Office 2010 updates without any apparent problems as yet. The unchecked one is left uninstalled pending further developments.
