  • Microsoft acknowledges bug in Win8.1 March Monthly Rollup KB 4489881, fixes it in Monthly Rollup Preview

I’ve seen a couple of reports where Server 2012 R2 (Win8.1) users who installed this month’s Monthly Rollup, KB 4489881, are hitting unexpected reboots and BSODs.

    Microsoft recently acknowledged the problem:

After installing this update, devices with a winsock kernel client may receive D1, FC, and other errors. Additionally, systems that run the Skype for Business or Lync Server Edge Transport role may be affected by this issue.

The fix is to install the preview of next month’s Win 8.1/Server 2012 R2 Monthly Rollup, KB 4489893:

Addresses an issue in which devices with a winsock kernel client may receive D1, FC, and other errors and affect systems that run the Skype for Business or Lync Server Edge Transport role.

I guess we have to get used to the fact that Microsoft’s going to fix bugs in Win7 and 8.1 Monthly Rollups by slipping them into the preview of the next month’s Monthly Rollup.
