  • Microsoft publishes official manual workarounds for the Win10 version 2004 Parity Storage Spaces bug

A few weeks ago, I talked about the Win10 version 2004 upgrade deleting data on machines running the Parity version of Storage Spaces. If you’re running Parity Storage Spaces on a Win10 1903 or 1909 machine and upgrade to Win10 version 2004, your drive may show up as RAW (unformatted) in Disk Manager, and you can’t get to any of your data.

    The just-released KB 4570719 says:

There is currently no full mitigation for all scenarios of this issue.

The “steps below” allow you to get at your data – with different procedures defined for WinFR and ReFS drives.

Tell me again who tests this stuff….

    See the difference? Me, neither.

Paul Thurrott nailed it again. Talking about the minor tweaks in the Start menu that were released yesterday in the beta Fast Ring, er, Insider Developer Channel:

It’s so minor, in fact, that it doesn’t even rise to the level of “lipstick on a pig.”

That was precisely my reaction, particularly when I read all the fawning accounts of how beautiful and wonderful the new, new Start menu turned out.

Paul has a great analysis on his Premium site ($64/yr and worth every penny).
