Anyone want to venture a guess as to why MS released 2019-12 servicing stacks for only Win7/em7/em8/2008/2008R2/2012?

There is no 2019-12 servicing stack for Server 2019 or Server 2016.  First time it has happened (if i recall correctly).

        Guess:
Could it possibly be associated with the ‘Extended Security Updates’ and ESU patch going forward beyond EOL for Win7?
2008/R2 will be Enterprise only for ESU (so I believe) so blanketing all covers the ESU entitlement?

Forgive me, the title I put was “Win7/2008R2” only?  but actually the servicing stacks included 2012 server (and embedded Win8).   So I don’t believe it’s ESU-related.

Only Server 2016 and 2019 were skipped for December SSU.

            Server 2012 R2 was skipped too 🙂

what’s wrong on having SSU for one or certain Windows only?
they never were synced together for downloevel Windows, except for last few months (KB3177467 was released on its own for Win 7)

and yes, 2019-12 SSUs for Win7/2008/2008R2 are only to update ExtendedSecurityUpdatesAI.dll component

Didn’t say it was wrong, just wondering why  🙂   And yes, missed mentioning 2012 R2.  However, 2012 and Win8embedded are not EOL until 2023, but there are SSUs for them, so those should not be ESU-related?

I have seen several reports about hang reboots in Server 2012, presumably caused by previous SSUs

so, maybe the December SSU is to fix that
