I am all in favor of forum changes/upgrades, and DEFINITELY in favor of an indicator that a thread is solved. However, after reading your post, it took me fully 5 minutes to find the drop-down that you were talking about. Someone never having read your post and actively gone looking for it would never see/use it. I would ask for something that apparently only appeared briefly because I used it once and then it disappeared. It was at the top and clearly labeled as to an indicator about solved/not solved. If you want people to use it, it has to be clearly visible and easily understood.
