I have been a combination of group b and c and haven’t done a comprehensive update for at least a year. This morning I had a software malfunction and my mouse started doing things I didn’t intend, including, apparently starting WU. I didn’t know this had happened until I tried to shut off the computer, at which time it said please wait for 3 updates. I forced a shut down, restarted but the updates are still waiting to be completed. I think some people are okay in group A and I think I may wind up there, at least temporarily. Any advice? Thank you!

+ Set Windows Update on “Never check for updates”
+ Hide the updates in the Important Updates list that you do not want to install.
+ Uninstall any updates that were installed that you didn’t want, then hide them also.
+ Run “Search for updates” in Windows Update, hiding updates you don’t want and installing ones that you do want until there are no more updates in the queue.
+ Now, go back to the Group B updates and install any that were missed through August.
+ Wait to install the Sept updates until the DEFCON number is 3 or above.

My advice is to reset Windows Update to NEVER. AND, never again update anything. If and when you start A, you have no choice but to continue. There is no half way. You cannot be partly pregnant.

I and my 139 clients have not done a single update since May 2017, AND have no intentions of ever doing one again. We have had absolutely no problems

If you really don’t want Windows 10 on your computer, download and run the GWX Control Panel:
      http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/

Not only will it delete any Windows 10 files that are on your computer, but it will also block attempts by Microsoft to upgrade you to Windows 10. At least it will try to block upgrades, because my father-in-law had GWX Control Panel up and running and blocking upgrades to 10, yet his machine was upgraded to 10.

GWX Control Panel hasn’t been updated in a couple of years, so it may be outdated at this time.

Hopefully none of this has so far installed on your computer. It sounds like you caught it in time.
