While researching different options for buying Microsoft Office, I learned that Eksoftware, a Microsoft Certified Partner located in Portland, OR, is selling Office 2021 Professional for $284.99

Microsoft sells Office 2021 Professional, through its website, for $439.99

Unlike most people who’ve migrated over to Microsoft 365, I prefer the one-time purchase option over the subscription plan. I’m trying to determine whether or not a purchase from Eksoftware carries any potential safety risk that would outweigh the benefits of a much lower sale price.

    On its website, Eksoftware states:

Eksoftware is a Microsoft Certified Partner. What does that mean for you, our valued customer? It means that we sell genuine Microsoft products and that you have the full backing that comes with owning genuine Microsoft products. It also means that Microsoft has certified that we are official, trustworthy, and recommended sellers of Microsoft products and services. For this reason, you can trust Eksoftware with all of your Microsoft purchases, secure in the knowledge that we have partnered with Microsoft to bring you the best prices on genuine Microsoft products.

Eksoftware’s FAQ page offers this additional information:

    Is your software legitimate?

All our software products are 100% legitimate and authentic. They are all covered by our company’s hassle-free money-back guarantee.

How can I be certain that my copy of Microsoft Office is legitimate?

We encourage all our customers to register their email address with their specific Microsoft Office Product key via Microsoft online activation to ensure verification and tracking of their authentic software products.

How are you able to sell the software for so cheap?

We work directly with our supplier to purchase large volumes to get the lowest rate possible. Because we save on costs, we want to ensure our valued customers save too.

Beyond these claims and assurances posted on its website, is there any other information you’d want to have from Eksoftware in order to feel comfortable buying Office from them instead of directly through Microsoft?

Don’t know about Eksoftware but you can get a license for Office 2021 Professional Plus – 1 PC (Windows 10..) for $37.91

At that low price of $37.91, I seriously doubt the vendor is legitimate. I wouldn’t touch that one with a ten-foot pole.

You pay with PayPal and can get your money back if the license doesn’t work as promised.
