Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |
It has been some time since I have seen any advice from Susan Bradely on whether it is time to upgrade to Windows 11. The last time I heard from her in an article, she advised against upgrading as Windows 11 was not yet mature enough.
I would like to know if there has been an update to her recommendations in this regard.
If you are a geek in an office and you need to manage any newly purchased machines with Windows 11, I recommend that you also be on Windows 11.
If you are buying a new computer and are a consumer, your machine comes with Windows 11.
If your machines is happily running Windows 10, you have alllllllll the way until October of 2025 to upgrade.
Especially with 23H2 just around the corner with all of it’s new Copilot stuff, now is probably not the right time to upgrade a machine from 10 to 11.

These are Susan’s recommendations as of the mid Sept. Patch List article:
Windows 11 22H2: Recommended
Windows 11 21H2: Will be recommended these get updated to 22H2 at the end of the month.
Windows 10 22H2: Recommended
Apple Ventura – Recommended for newer hardware – as always check with the applications you rely on if they recommend this release.
Win10 22H2 is good until Oct. 2025. There are not supposed to be any more feature updates, so it should be quite stable. If you like it, there is no hurry to upgrade.
However, if your computer is compatible with Win11, and you just feel you need to upgrade for some reason, Susan recommends Win11 22H2.
Be sure you make a full disk image and a separate data backup before you start so you have something to go back to if things go pear shaped.
