Aliens exist as ‘no way’ humans only life form, says UK’s space exploration boss

Head of Space Exploration in the UK, Libby Jackson, is convinced that there are aliens in the universe and that we will have “more answers” in the coming years but says there is no way we are the only “life form”

I love assertions lacking any evidence.

The Mirror is, of course, as impeccable a reporting source as the National Enquirer. I don’t think this website needs tabloid crap repeated on its forums.

      So which is true?

      Aliens Exist.

      Aliens Don’t Exist.

I dare anyone to prove either statement true! Of course that is impossible until you have traveled the whole of outer space, or ET lands in your backyard. Not likely!

The problem with the clickbait article at the top of this topic is a) its source is the Mirror, a red-top UK tabloid, and b) its use of the sensationalist term “Aliens”, rather than something more neutral

NASA clearly believes that there are other lifeforms out there, and is spending millions (if not billions) of dollars on the search for it. There’s a quick review from a NASA website here: The search for life elsewhere. And it’s not hard to find articles from reputable scientific sources reviewing the question (and also, why we have yet to find any hard evidence: The Fermi Paradox)

Nonsense about Area51, Alien Abductions, UFOs and the rest, does an interesting field of study absolutely no favors at all.

Maybe one of these days we’ll get lucky (or unlucky as the case may be) and dig up a Stargate in Egypt or somewhere else on Earth.

Military testing where they don’t want to showcase what they are working on. Aliens would take one look at us and pass on to the next galaxy.

Aliens advanced enough to traverse the distance from their planetary system to ours are likely to be looking for a nice beautiful planet like ours to colonize.  They would see us as stupid planet destroyers and get rid of us.

Quite likely. When 8 billion locusts swarm across the land, consuming and destroying all in their path, we call it a plague. When 8 billion humans do the same thing, we call it civilisation.

I think you are all right. And hope that some sense will return to the (mostly) men that gamble with the planets future. Here in Europe it’s becoming terrifying, at least for this boomer.

Did you read the short story “The Last Question” written by Isaac Asmov in 1956? (The entropy becoming final. [the original version is the best I think, just like in classical music]).

No I haven’t, but I’ll look for it.  Thanks.
