I have an android (v8) dedicated music player (non-Apple!) TempoTec V6. I bought this so I could access my largish music collection (~12,000 files in MP3 and FLAC format).
The player has trouble with the files, and I’ve gone through a number of iterations with this. Right now I seem to have a “stable” 256 GB SD card – I say ‘stable’ because I can see the files on the system’s file manager. However the music app will index only and exactly 2961 files (I believe this is repeated). The files are in several layers of subdirectories (so not too many are in any one directory) and the card is formatted in exFAT. I’ve loaded the files on via my PC of course.
I’ve gone through several iterations of problems. A couple of times the file system on the SD card got trashed – simple one was when files were deleted, but a couple of times there were a zillion layers of /data/data/data directories somehow created such that the card couldn’t be managed on my PC and the only solution was to reformat.
Is there something about the Android file system such that it should be choking on this large number of folders (~360 in total) and files?
Basically the device is of limited use if only a portion of my collection can be read.
Thanks for advice!
