      iPhone 7 15.7.9 –> 15.8 (Rarely used)
iPhone 8 16.7.1 –> 16.7.2 (Phone number / Apple ID under my father but rarely used)
iPhone XR 16.7.1 –> 16.7.2 (Was my main phone but now rarely used)
      iPad Air 4 16.7.1 –> 16.7.2

      No issues so far.

I will wait until my next charge cycle to update my main iPhone 13 and SE 2, which will be to 16.7.2 rather than 17.1. I will continue to wait until at least iOS 17.2.x or 17.3.x before upgrading to 17.

Personally I see no point in upgrading to a new major iOS version (in this case 17) so soon after launch. I applaud Apple for allowing those of us who do not want to upgrade to the latest iOS right away to stay on an older version and still continuing to patch that older version with security updates (for a while, at least, I know it is not going to last).

Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.

I just noticed yesterday, when I checked on updates on my iPhones, that Apple apparently no longer considered iOS 16.7.2 as the “latest” version on my iPhone 13 / XR / SE 2. (16.7.2 was the “latest” only 2 days ago.) Instead it now pushes me to update to iOS 17.1.1 which is the “latest and greatest”.

Of course I am NOT going to do that for a while. I will wait until at least iOS 17.2.x or 17.3.x before I will consider upgrading to iOS 17.

Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.

iPhone SE-2 updated to iOS 16.7.2 (not ready for iOS 17 yet).
2017 iMac4K Intel i7 with 2 Parallels Win VMs updated to macOS Ventura 12.6.1 (this will be it’s last OS when Ventura is over).
2020 M1 MacMini and 2023 M2Max 16″ MacBook Pro updated to macOS Ventura 12.6.1 (not ready for macOS Sonoma yet).

“I’ll be adding this to the master list tonight and tracking any side effects.”   – any idea when you will be updating it?

Of course I am NOT going to do that for a while. I will wait until at least iOS 17.2.x or 17.3.x before I will consider upgrading to iOS 17.

I would like to understand you reasoning.
17.2 betas are already out (I am running 17.2 beta 3) so 17.1.1 is old news (Apple stopped signing 17.1).
We will always get latest iOS so when 17.3.x will be out will you wait for 17.5.x ? as Apple will stop signing 17.1.1..17.2…

iOS 16.7.2 is still supported with security update due to iPhone smartphones that cant update to iOS 17.
That support will end next year.
