Does anyone know where the master category list is stored in Outlook? I’ve got a list set up, but I’ve got a few items I’d like to change. I’m hoping that Outlook only stores a key for the text rather than the text itself. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Found the registry key at HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice9.0OutlookCategories

I’ve got Outlook 2000; the 9.0 would be 8.0 for Office 97. Not sure about Outlook 98, but I’m sure you’ll find it. I created a category called XXXTESTXXX and then did a search for that string in the registry editor. I then changed “business” to “buddies” and it came up when I tried to select it as a category for a contact.

Is that what you’re looking for? It does not appear to be stored in the Outlook program itself.
