In Windows 11 if you go to Tools/Settings/Sync Choose What To Synchronise there is the item:Bookmarks.

First question please what does this synchronisation exactly refer to, inside Windows 11 or outside of it?
Clicking on Change… there is the option of Disconnect, again what does this refer to please?

My gaol and quest has been to go to the three bars (Hamburger) icon and delete the various Bookmarks without deleting them elsewhere in Windows 11.

I think you’re talking about a particular browser, but you haven’t said which one.

(If not, where is Tools?)

With a browser, you can have a cloud synchronization account. Then you get to choose what parts of your browser profile you synchronize with. The advantages of using a browser synchronization account are:
1 – You can have the same settings automatically appear on the multiple PC’s you use.
2 – Your browser settings are backed up.
3 – The service is free.

On the other hand, I also backup my browser profiles as a part of incremental backup and I choose not to use the browser to store or synchronize passwords and credit cards.

For Firefox, your account is with Firefox/Mozilla.

On the other hand, a synchronization cloud account is disabled by default and you don’t have to use one.

Disconnect means to stop syncing your browsing data but still keep it.
