I wanted to pass along a trick I use that many people either have forgotten or never knew to begin with. I first used this in Windows 3.x and in this day of ANNOYING POP UP ADS!!! it’s just as handy.
You can close the active window by pressing ALT+F4. If you are borwsing along and all of a sudden an ad pops up on your screen, you can zap it immediately. Surfing is all mouse and right hand stuff, so make use of your left. It’s much faster with all windows, programs included, to use ALT+F4 to close them – better than hunting for that little ‘X’ in the upper right hand corner!! You can even use ALT+F4 to shut down windows. This is one of my personal all-time favorite tricks – it makes you look like you’re quick but you’re simply being efficient.
