I have Comcast/Xfinity cable and internet service.

They have an app called My Account, which would allow me to check problems, service my account, etc.  But it has never worked from the Xfinity Android app.  It works fine from a web browser under Android and on the desktop under Windows.

What happens is that I successfully sign-in to the app (it shows signed in) but the app won’t connect to wherever it is supposed to connect.  I always get a failed to connect msg as shown in the attached screenshot.

I have spent hours arguing with one “support” rep after another who makes me jump through all the usual hoops (clear cache, uninstall/reinstall app, force stop app, reboot phone, make a witches potion as in Hamlet, etc. all while they are supposedly chatting with their own level 2 support (not available to the customer) to no avail.  The problem does not get fixed and there isn’t any further escalation point.

I am having a technician come out next week just for the kicks but I don’t have high confidence that the person will have the chops to know how to fix a problem that is most likely between the Android app and their servers.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might discover what link connection is failing?  I do have a few network apps including Fing installed, so maybe can use that to get more detail?
