Has anyone come across problems with the above service? I’m looking after a Windows 10 laptop with 1803. It’s a low-spec Asus used just for surfing and email.

The machine is just a couple of months old, and has always behaved very well. Just a few days ago, applications started freezing; then the machine would randomly switch off. Task Manager showed me a CPU running permanently at 100% with the above service at about 65-80%.

Mr Google seemed of the opinion that nobody knows what the CDP service is for, and it seemed to appear after a recent minor update. So…into Computer Management and disable it, but no dice. Every time I tried, Windows gave me a severe bollocking and refused to do it (I could stop it, but it just started again).

The only option was to untick it in the startup tab in msconfig; not good practice I know, but it’s just till I work out which update caused it. The machine was needed and I was under pressure to hand it back.

    Anyone got any insight?
