is there a way to add a date/timestamp in Word that will automatically update, but only if the file is edited. Just opening the or printing the file would not update it.
If it is easier to do this in Excel, or pdf, I can do that instead.
Thanks

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

Insert Menu -> Quick Parts button in the ribbon -> Field -> SaveDate [choose date[time] format]
Review -> Protect button in the ribbon -> Restrict editing -> Click both check boxes -> Yes, Start Enforcement -> Enter password
WORD document now read-only and protected by password.
Microsoft says “Important: If you forget the password, Microsoft can’t retrieve it.”

But: Can a WORD *or* PDF read-only document password be hacked, then edited?
