In Windows 7, when you clicked on the search field, it would bring up a calendar where you could select a date range.

In Windows 10, that no longer worked. I had to type in “datemodified:” to bring up the menu showing the calendar. This no longer works in Windows 10 version 1909 and I cannot find a way to select a range of specific dates. The only options now are today, yesterday, this week, last week, this month, last month, this year, last year. It is so frustrating. Does anyone know of a way to get to search by specific dates?

    Thank you

In File Explorer on the View tab
Sort by – choose column – date modified
      Group by – (none)

The question is about searching, not sorting.

I think advanced search is broken in version 1909 (and 2004):

Can’t perform advanced search in Windows 1909 file Explorer

The calendar for date selection is not available as it was in previous versions (e.g. 1903):

      Known issue.

Power users can disable the new Windows Search experience using the following steps:

      1. Download Mach2 ( https://github.com/riverar/mach2/releases )
      2. Open an elevated command prompt and issue: mach2 disable 18755234
      3. Restart File Explorer (or Windows) (Logout and back in works best.)

And these classic file search experience tweaks disappears (default is reset) with nearly every subsequent Windows 10 feature update since 1909.

        Alternative:

        1. Download, install and open WinAero Tweaker.
        2. File Explorer / Enable Classic Search
        3. Check box next to ‘Enable classic search in File Explorer.’

God bless Winaero, Sergey and Rafael!

I also utilize the ‘Customize Quick Access Toolbar’ feature built into the File Explorer ribbon to add shortcut buttons to some of my most used search options.
