I’m currently on 1511. It meets my needs. However, am I stranding myself? Will I be able to get back on the update conveyor belt if I so decide? Am I now stuck on 1511? What are my choices? The way I see it, I can…

    1. Stay on 1511. It will pass out of support sometime this fall. What happens then? Will MS kill it? Can they then FORCE me to upgrade? Am I willing to use an OS that theoretically is no longer supported? What are the REAL consequences to ME of doing that? What are the consequences to the rest of the computing community if I stay on an unsupported OS? What are my risks and how do they evolve post-support?

    2. Update to the most recent branch of 10. Can I? How do I?

    3. Update to a less-than-newest branch, say 1607 or 1703 or…?

I don’t want to be a bad boy but MS is definitely forcing me outside of my normal boundaries. Maybe it isn’t so bad out here.

If you want to install the Creators Update first do a complete system backup. If you can’t do an image backup be sure to backup anything that is important to you. Then go to Download Windows 10 and click on the “Update Now” button.
