Thank you for promoting my video, RG! However, I have to correct your link. The link you’ve embedded is to my Cloning and Imaging video, but the Macrium dual-boot video is here.

That video grew out of what was essentially a thought experiment, exploring Macrium’s “Fix Boot Problems” feature. I’ve been multibooting for over 35 years, but always used independent, MBR-style boot managers. My wife’s new computer, however, had no legacy boot option, so my old familiar multiboot techniques couldn’t be used. That’s when it occurred to me to explore the capabilities of the Macrium feature. I was well familiar with the technical details of multibooting, so was curious to see how well Macrium handled them.

Quite well, as it turns out. My wife’s Dell Optiplex 7060 has been happily running a Macrium-built, UEFI dual-boot for about 3 years now.

I used BootItNG when I was dual booting XP.  With Windows 7 I used bootmgr.  When Windows 8 came along, I didn’t like the way it had to reboot to switch OS’s, so I plugged in the Windows 7 bootmgr, and I’m still using it.

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!
