edge browser updates

Edge browser seems to be a part of the OS as was win explorer in win 7 and 8. Impossible to get rid of, if I understand correctly.

Updates to win explorer were mandatory then (per this site and https://www.askwoody.com/forums/topic/2000003-ongoing-list-of-group-b-monthly-updates-for-win7-and-8-1/ ).

Do we have to toe the line with this Edge thing now as we did before?

In other words, are the Edge updates really a must?

Edge is like the old Internet Explorer, an unremovable built in.

Edge does not show in the Windows Task Manger “Startup” tab, but the Sysinternals utility “Autoruns” allows more control.

not entirely correct as of this month, MSFT Edge can be removed using scripts, revo uninstaller, registry edits and manual folder content surgery, but not for those with a nervous disposition 🙂

unless you prefer to leave the door open to exploits, vulnerabilities and code errata the answer is, yes they are a must for your safety and security as well as others.

Thanks, I hadn’t researched that far.  I actually like to use Edge once in a while to see what Microsoft is doing with it.  It’s very glitzy and eye candy galore, and deep tracking if you permission everything while signed into a Microsoft account.  I would expect many non-tech everyday users get drawn into it.
