When trying to update Edge today, rec’d “error code 7 0x80072EE7-system level. If you use a firewall, please allowlist MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe”. Tried via both User & admin accts.

(See screenshot attached) [Tried to attach a simple jpeg from ipad, Ask Woody says file too large? I’ve attached many before?] On PC, not Ipad, able to attach .png scrn shot.

Never had this before, ever. Clicking on ‘learn more’ leads me to useless MS webpage here

Win10 Pro 22H2 (via upgrade enablement pkg Feb). Have not had any previous probs with Edge.

Was about to update to March’s CU. Current build 19045.2604 Feature pack 120.2212.4190.0.

No other browser on PC. Even Ublock Origin is showing a yellow alert (w/out description).

In lieu of scrn shot, current Edge is ver 111.0.1661.54

Did you block any urls for privacy or security reasons? Using any privacy/telemetry blocking tools?

None. Anywhere. Even Ublock Origin is on default and up to date. No GP policies to do with edge. Only privacy stgs are GP “notify 2” and TRV Win 10 22H2. Performed full system a/v scan FWIW, came up zero. Haven’t been on PC (offline/unplugged from ethernet, no wifi capability on this unit) for days.

Winshowhide fine, holding March updates at bay. Nothing new there.

Clicking on ‘learn more’ leads me to useless MS webpage here

Click on Windows 10 under 7. Help for specific error codes or issues and then find “or 0x80072ee7” on the left and follow the corresponding guidance on the right (e.g. check BITS service).

@b , none of the ‘MS’ solutions were needed (extreme to say the least for a mere update issue?).

I restarted PC a few times, even shutdown. That worked. for Edge update to ver. 111.0.1661.62.

Just now updated to Edge ver 112.0.172.34. , Alot of ‘new” greyed out toggles (am local acct, no MS acct attached), a new red dot on person icon ‘trying to get me to sign in with MS account’. Also:

Ask Woody site is now very odd: no Top banner, no colour on side menus? Assume you are working on upgrading site as of this minute? (See attached scrn shots)

I will mark this as resolved after I apply March CU.

        Checking settings is not extreme.

Thank you! If you go to that link, stgs check was easy ie. BITS, what isn’t is a reinstall of Edge, or adding a never before needed convoluted process of  ‘app through firewall’ as stated in the link, of which I did not have to do after restarts, shutdown. It’s Edge, it should simply update as usual? Simple bringing it to the attention of AW crowd.

JUST now, AW site display/banner issues have been resolved, thx! (see scrn shot)

Further to above Ask Woody Banner and colour issues, I just created a new local Admin. account. AW worked fine with ‘Bing’ as a default search engine in Edge, YET when I switch search engine  from Bing in edge to DuckDuckGo, it is back to no banner and white side panel vs yellow. See attached screnn shots.

That means DuckDuckGo is blocking parts of the A/W site.

Simple add A/W as an “Unprotected Site” in DuckDuckGo’s settings and the background colors should reappear.

DDG stgs don’t help. Only began with Edge v.112.0.1722.34. Perhaps a Ublock Origin ver 1.48.4 extension is at play. Have turned ublock Origin off to no avail for AW. Will report back. (If I’m the only one with this issue, pls chime in so I know it’s my end and can report to Ublock! Thanks:)

You’re the only one, but Ublock Origin 1.48.4 is not the cause.

No problems with missing colors on Askwoody with my Edge v112.0.1722.34

BTW, I also use DuckDuckGo as my search engine and the only site I’ve had to add to my DDG “Unprotected Site” list so far was Fedex.com

Note: Ask Woody site fine on ipad. Just Win 10 Pro display wonky as per scrn shots after latest Edge update.

Thank you for the replies @b and @bigal67 (@alejr). Helped to troubleshoot.

I have NOT updated to today’s Edge, still on version 112.0.1722.34.

When I logged into AW today, and (as usual) allowed javascript and  all AW cookies, I was met with success and a normal experience. No changes to any settings, nor Ublock updates. No other system changes nor updates (about to to do 22H2 March updates).

      See attached happy screenshots.

      Something changed,

      ask-woody-site-when-java-and-all-cookies-enabled

      but I’m not sure what.

Happily back to normal… until I update Edge to today’s latest version 112.0.1722.39: April 10, 2023. Am reluctant to do so at the moment as all is stable on this version of Edge.
