So. Remember the April 2017 security update for various MS Office versions, that disabled EPS import?

The wording in that sort of led me to expect that EPS support would be coming back, but it’s been 2½ years…

an unpatched vulnerability in the EPS filter, and we are taking this action to help reduce customer risk until the security update is released.

We strongly recommend against turning on the EPS filter at this time.

Oh well. Cannot enable it any more anyway in many products even if one were to ignore that recommendation.

So is it time to give up on waiting for that patched EPS filter and start converting any old archived EPS files?

(Right, EPS is a Turing-complete language in itself and can do all kinds of things if left to run without a proper sandbox…)

It appears that it is gone for good. See Support for EPS images has been turned off in Office
