Just recently when using ‘save as’ to save Excel spreadsheets on my networked computers, when I click the file from ‘Save As’ representation of where the file is to be place, I get a tone along with the display of the ‘this file already exists. Do you want to replace it?’ screen   I have never gotten this tone before.

Windows 10 or 11? Is it possible that some problem with your sound got fixed recently? As mine makes a ‘save as’ sound.

Mine (several) always bong on “file exists” issues.
Maybe you didn’t have a default error sound before? (Settings > System > Sounds > Sound Control Panel > Sounds tab)

      cheers, Paul

Windows 10 that was a upgrade from W8.1 that the machine was delivered with in 2014 or 15.

I haven’t changed any settings in the recent past and use Excel multiple times daily.

Found the error of my ways –

Somehow the ‘System Sounds’ had been turned on in the ‘App Volume and Device Preferences’  portion of the System drop down menus.

The last Window Update that got applied to the machine must have done it, as I know I didn’t access that menu.
