• Excel / Word / Ubit Menu

I’m running Windows 10, and Office 2010 with Ubit Menu for pre-ribbon commands. My Firefox browser had a bit of a hiccup today. I rebooted, and Firefox is now working fine again.

Weirdly however, Ubit menu is working fine in Word, but the custom ribbon tab now does not appear in Excel. Between the “Home” and “Insert” tabs there shold be a “Menu” tab. There is in Word, but not Excel.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2010, and uninstalled and reinstalled Ubit Menu, but the problem persists – in Excel only.

Has some setting somewhere been updated by Microsoft to block custom ribbon tabs in Excel only, or is there some other deeply buried setting that I’m missing?

    Thanks.

Oddly enough, I have the same problem but reversed: I see Ubit Menu in Excel but not in Word (also after reinstalling Windows and all my programs).
Have you found a solution, can you post it?

Hmm, just after I posted my question (looking for a solution), I found it.

Ubit Menu installs a template in the template directory of the app.

For Excel, the template ‘UBitMenu04xx.xlam’ (xx=language code) should be in the directory C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

For Word, the template ‘UBitMenu04xx.dotx’ (xx=language code) should be in the directory C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP or the Word startup directory of your local language.

In my (Dutch) case the local startup directory for Word is C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\OPSTARTEN (whereas Ubit Menu install had put it in the (obviously English) STARTUP directory).
