    I rolled Windows back to 8/28/2014 to try to solve a different problem. Firefox wouldn’t recognize its sessionstore file. I rolled windows forward to the durrent date and only got the “well, this is embarrassing” message and was able to restore the session. I suspect a version change in Firefox that prevented and older version from working with the newer file, or a date conflict, or something like that.
