For those of us who have been using Nir Sofer’s utilities for a long time, the ability to have a centralized launcher is valuable. This launcher can be used to organize and keep track of the Nir Sofer utilities, which can be difficult to keep track of without such a common interface.

People who only use a few Nir Sofer utilities probably won’t appreciate what a help the Launcher is. But technicians, power users and others who use a lot of these utilities will find this launcher useful, if they don’t know about it already.

I use some of Nir’s apps, those that Kaspersky let me use after adding the app to the exception list.
I can’t unzip NitLauncer and load all the apps due to Kaspersky’s panic blocking notifications.
I can disable Kaspersky during the unzip and load but then I will have to add all the apps to exception list one by one 🙂

Well, Alex, you probably know my opinion of third party antivirus in Windows 10.

But if you want to use Kaspersky, I guess this is part of the price you will pay.

I’ve used various NirSoft utilities for many years (at least 2 decades), and I love them. However, until today, I hadn’t investigated the launcher, incorrectly assuming that it was a replacement for QuickLaunch, which I seldom use.

While the launcher neatly organizes everything, new users should be aware that some of the tools cannot actually be run from the launcher. Nevertheless, you can get their names, and run them from a command prompt. An example is the LSA Secrets dumper, which requires at least one command line argument.

A better software of this type is WSCC ( http://www.kls-soft.com/wscc/downloads.php ), which incorporates the Nirsoft Utilities, Sysinternals utilities, Windows utilities and the MiTeC utilities in a single integrated launcher.

As long as you don’t mind paying $20.

It’s free for personal use. I’ve just updated mine but it’s empty! I need to find how I populate it.

First make your choices, then run Updates from the main window:

Well that was intuitive, not! Thanks satrow, that did the trick. Not sure about the password utilities being needed – not by me anyway.

One drawback to WSCC is that the NirSoft Password utilities are not included.

That prevents many installers/downloaders from getting spooked by the scareware tactics of the A/V purveyors. Easy enough to find them from the main Nirsoft page and deal with unblocking them individually.

True, but they don’t show as available in the WSCC panel. I guess if you really need one of them you’ll know where they are on the PC or where to get them on the web.

Probably anyone who uses a lot of Nir Sofer utilities can figure this out (or has been informed at sites like here). But it is not intuitive, and for software which asks a price (or even which does not) at least some sort of Help Item would be useful in this regard.

The problem with adding all of those is that most require a command prompt, so there is little to gain from having them in a menu, unless it includes an intelligent UI that knows the required parameters for each of the command line utilities.

If command line integration were part of a launcher, this would be a positive advantage. I haven’t used enough of the Command Line utilities to see whether Nir Launcher or its competitors can be set up to have Command Line integration. But I believe it would be possible to either specify the parameters or have some sort of template which could be used by all or most of the command line utilities.

Anyone with enough technical knowledge to use the command line utilities could probably figure out how to pass the parameters through the launcher, I would think. But it might have to be set up on a per-utility basis, which could get very tedious.
