Google Maps helps you find places to go, things to do and how to get there—no matter what device you’re using. With compatibility for Apple’s CarPlay Dashboard and a new app for the Apple Watch, people using iOS devices can safely and easily navigate with Google Maps right from their car or wrist.

I assume there is already an Apple maps program that allows you to navigate safely and easily?
        Is the Google alternative better?

        cheers, Paul

In some countries Google Maps is better than Apple Maps or Waze.
These are the only maps on CarPlay . There is no Waze for Apple Watch.

Overall Google Maps is considered to be better than Apple Maps.

As Alex mentioned, CarPlay does come with Apple Maps.

It is overall solid now, plus there is better privacy with it. Apple Maps was off to a rocky start though if people remember way back when.

Some prefer Google Maps, so it’s good Google is offering it as an option.

I personally like Waze. It seems to do a solid job.

It would be interesting if TeleNav offered an option as well (maybe port Scout to it) since they used to be the “standard” in phone nav apps (then again, Garmin and TomTom were considered it as well).

Google own Waze and copy some Waze features to Google Maps 🙂
