Sometime in April 2019 Google Sort-by-date tool has been retired, except within news search.
        Is there an alternative?

I liked it because I could go to a website and use googles  site: phrase in front of the websites address like, site:eaa.org and the search engine would search within that website. Then I would select Sort-by-date, and that would show me results by date or hours of when there was something new added to that site.

        Example:
eaa.org has a annual airshow convention, AirVenture.
A couple months before and during the convention, their website is being constantly updated daily with new information about events at the upcoming convention.

With Google search Sort-by-date I could keep abreast of when there was something new added to their website.

        Is there an alternative?

        Any help appreciated.

The options are still there, click on Tools to show the temporal result filtering options.

Here is some testing of a few other search engines using a list of default search engines in Waterfox and site:eaa.org AirVenture as the example search string:

Bing still allows narrowed search from Anytime down to the past day or a custom date range, it does not show the time elapsed for added content.

DuckDuckGo, Ecosia*, Startpage, and Yahoo** allow for Anytime down to the previous day, they do not show the time elapsed for added content.

Qwant does provide temporal search result filtering. Using the past week option Qwant does show how many days ago the content was added to the site.

*Ecosia is a tree planting search engine based charity that is included because it is a option with Waterfox, and get also results from Microsoft.

**Yahoo is also a search query proxy page for Microsoft.

Errata: Bing will show time elapsed after content was added when using the custom date range filter, but not using the other temporal filtering methods.

This is how it use to work,

On the Google Search results page,  click Tools > Any time and select a time period, say Past year, Sorted by Relevance and select Sorted by date.

Sorted by date is no longer a option to select.

I am sorry for being daft and not fully understanding what you wanted, so tests were redone to look for that in the listed search engines (not yet including some newer lesser known ones) and such a useful required powerful function is not present.

On MS 8.1 Right top corner – customize Google under More Tools there isn’t any of the above information to choose from?

I’m not the original poster of the question but, yeah, that’s pretty much the situation they describe.

Selecting the “Tools” button still brings up the expected buttons of “Anytime”, “All Results” and “Clear” with the expected subselections available.

It DOES NOT include a “Relevance” button.

I’m using windows 10 and the latest version of Firefox. I’ve been aware of the situation for quite some undefined time but, now that I really need it, I’m trying to find the solution now.
