Had a Surface Pro for a month and the (settings) just disappeared?
When I contacted support,  they took over online messed about for more than half hour but couldn’t solve it, they sent me a pdf showing how to flash drive a recovery.  I struck a problem straight away the next day when the hard disc wouldn’t format, asked the same person for help again but got no reply.
Anyway I was extremely lucky as I bought from argos and they gave me a full refund, ” very lucky ” because had even run out of the 30 day return, and in most stores laptops are exempted from 30 day return anyway.    I got the impression from the person who helped from Microsoft that this was a known problem.

Surface Pro has a lot of known issues. Also, if you try to disassemble a Surface Pro to replace the battery, install a bigger hard drive, or do some repair, you will likely destroy it in the process.

You are very fortunate that they gave you a full refund. My suggestion is that you buy a Dell, HP, Toshiba, or some other name brand laptop which is not “Microsoft”.
