If one chooses not to go to Win 10 does anyone know how long Win 8.1 Home will be supported by Microsoft and will u still be able to control ur own Updating Updates after Win 10 comes out?

Windows 10 forces update installation. There is no option for non-enterprise users to control updates.

No longer the case, there is now a MS utility to hide updates.

Windows 8 end support date is 2023.

You have at least 1 year to take the free update, plenty of time for MS to sort out the inevitable issues.

Thanks for that info but, I think u missed most of my question : I have Win 8.1 Home and if I don’t move to Win 10 till 2023 if I’m still alive lol in the meantime will I still have the choice of Updating Updates like we all have now or will that change for all Windows Versions when Win 10 comes out. Thanks.

This is not a forced update per se, you can control it within the Windows Update settings, although MS would prefer that you didn’t.
