I used Macrium Reflect to make a backup of my HP Pavilion laptop. Macrium Reflect uses a USB stick which is set up to boot the computer when there is a need to install the backup. I thought I had told the computer to boot from the USB stick if one is inserted, but the laptop always boots the normal way.
Does anybody know how to force the laptop to boot from the USB stick?

You go into BIOS and select the USB as first device to boot.
Start the computer. Immediately press multiple times to get the boot menu:
F12 on a Dell
Esc on HP
Other computers could be F2, F8, F9, F10
It will give you a list of the bootable devices – pick the USB stick.
on some old HP brand desktop & laptops computers, the key to press to enter bios varies with different models (and different HP series like ENVY, Pavilion, Spectre, etc.) such as F1, F2 or F10
edit – on my brother’s HP Spectre 15-df1000 x360 Convertible PC series laptop, there’s a manual or user guide on what key or keys to press to enter bios setup.
a suggestion for OP to look up the HP pavilion laptop model on the HP computer support site, then look for the Manuals section and click on the user guide link and read the section for entering bios setup
I actually chgd boot seq to USB #1 and never could get it to boot to Macrium right away. Macrium Forum experts talked me into chg’ing seq back to boot mgr 1st and I now use PKCs method.
