I’m running Windows 10, the latest version. I use Sumatra PDF to read .epub documents, but when I tried to install the latest version, I got a corrupted version message. You can either do a lot of things to maybe fix it, or just switch to the portable version. Now that I’ve extracted the portable version and verified that it works, I’ll like to create a link on the start menu, rather than putting the link in my task bar.

Is this possible? If so, please tell me how.

    TIA

Right-click the exe and choose pin to start

I did that, twice, restarting the computer between tries, and it didn’t work. It’s nowhere on the start menu. Now what? I’m open to using a different epub reader, but don’t know of any others.

The global start menu is located at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs. The start menu for the logged-on user is at %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. Try creating a shortcut to the exe and placing it in one of these folders.

Putting a shortcut into my user start menu folder worked. Thank you.

Now that I’ve done that, it seems very familiar, like I used that trick way back when, when many, many programs were stand-alones or didn’t use installers.
