AskWoody PlusDecember 6, 2021 at 3:33 am #2404760Windows 11 made me appreciate windows 10
I was excited to upgrade from 10 to 11 as it got a pretty interface, but after using it for 1 month that made me realize how there were so many features and stability that I took for granted, not only I was suffering from the missing drag and drop to the taskbar feature/tasks don’t override each other properly but the overall performance was so slow and laggy even with using all speed up tips and animation reduction. I was so relieved when I saw the windows 10 logo during reinstalling after all this frustration…

AskWoody PlusDecember 6, 2021 at 4:05 am #2404765While I’m a fan of trying out a virtual Windows 11, my experience with VirtualBox is that its video drivers leave a bit to be desired. They just don’t handle certain aspects correctly.
I actually went ahead and used VMWare Player instead, and got a much better experience with the graphics.

AskWoody LoungerDecember 8, 2021 at 3:09 am #2405187Microsoft and Oracle? So that means a Virtualbox virtual machine with Windows 11?
No thanks. Really not a fan of Virtualbox. Used it once or twice before and felt it just was not as good as VMware Workstation / Player.
I have built a virtual machine of Windows 11 Enterprise and Pro using VMware Workstation 15.5.2 using BIOS mode, no TPM and MBR disk. Windows 11 seemed to work mostly fine on such an unsupported configuration, but trying to use it just gave me the impression that it was even worse than the poor (to me) Windows 10, in particular the crippled right-click taskbar, right-click menu and horrible start menu.
I will stay away from it for as long as possible and fortunately I still have the choice to switch to Windows 10 1809 LTSC (which is the only version of Windows 10 worth using in my view) when Windows 8.1 goes out of support in a little more than a year. My current machines do not actually support running Windows 11 anyway.
Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.
