I’m about to retire my beloved HP 3050 printer because it lost most of its functions as a result of the recent licensing debacle. My potential replacement is the HP 2632 printer – but can anyone tell me if it also suffers from the same operating disaster?

I can see a driver dated November 2020: Since it is a newer driver version you might be okay, the embedded driver certificate should should have a new expiry date. The printer’s own internal software might have a newer embedded security certificate with a longer expiry date.

HP continues to be unfriendly to printer users. You might need to update the firmware if you buy that printer model, (HP 2632) its support page has a notice. The firmware update will probably prevent you from using third party ink cartridges.

Which features have stopped working for you?

I am on Catalina and had no idea that my HP Office Jet Pro 6978 needed to be completely revamped due to the new HP Smart hub nonesene.  I finally got everything working — in order to get the computer recognized by the printer I had to use a USB cable — which I actually prefer on my home computer rather than WiFi.  I was unable to update the firmware — it kept telling me it was dangerous.  Be that as it may, I have one lingering question:  Awhile ago I got tired of the expense of the color printing and switched to grayscale.  I now would like to switch back and for the life of me nothing seems to work.  I watched UTube and googled and I can’t figure it out.  It’s not listed in my Presets.

It’s me the guest with the grayscale problem — I think I forgot to mention I’m on a Mac.
