Apple is aware of the issue and is investigating

Don’t enable Advanced Data Protection for iCloud if you have other devices that are not compatible with iOS 16.2/iPadOS 16.2 or macOS Ventura 13.1. You won’t be able to access iCloud.

Another reason not to rush into Apple updates. You would think Apple would have been aware of this issue prior to release and fixed it…not after users discovered it and only then is Apple aware of the issue.

You can rush into Apple’s updates, I do. Never had a crash… on any Apple device.
E2E is opt-in not default.
