Is there any reason i should “uninstall” the old cumulative security IE11 update from September 2016, KB3185319 (it’s Listed in my installed updates) BEFORE installing the newer Dec. 2018 cumulative security IE11 update kb4483187 or it hurts nothing to just keep kb3185319 and go ahead and install kb4483187.

It is not necessary to uninstall the older IE11 update. Go ahead and install kb4483187.

It IS safe to uninstall KB3185319 and then install the new KB4483187 update.

I ran a Windows Update scan on several Win7 & Win8.1 computers after removing KB3185319, then installing KB4483187 and Windows Update no longer offers old IE11 updates like KB3185319.

KB4483187 completely replaces KB3185319 100% and prevents Windows Update from offering it

      Hi Guys,
I have a follow up question that i hope does not sound too stupid but i want to do the right thing.

I want to get that Dec. ie cu patch kb4483187 installed this weekend but I also have all 4 jan. patches showing with Dec. patch in my windows update cued. They are all checked so do i just uncheck all the jan. patches leaving just the Dec. ie cu patch kb4483187 checked to than install it? I find if i hide the jan. patches to get them out of the way it gives me past patches in return. I don’t want any of those jan. patches installing until we get the woody word. Can someone please inform me of the proper steps to take.

Just uncheck the January patches and leave the one you want to install checked. Unchecked patches don’t get installed. After you uncheck them, don’t forget to click on the “OK” at the bottom to make your choices stick.

Well i got the Dec. 2018 cumulative security IE11 update kb4483187 installed sunday jan. 20th. All went smoothly with the install and it is now jan.22nd and not seeing any issues in almost 48 hours of using my computer. I Was so uptight installing this patch because i have not had the best of luck with ie patches causing me online issues since september but thanks to this forum with all it’s awsome people i understood the importance of having this one installed. For anyone still on the fence with this patch i hope you to can get this one done or maybe get it through this months Jan. patching once we get the go ahead since i’m reading it is a part of win.7 rollup kb4480970 if your group A patching. For me I decided NOT to get kb4483187 in the jan. kb4480970 rollup simply because as i said i have been getting online issues after installing win.7 monthly rollup patches and have to uninstall them to fix the issues. So if this happens again this month and i need to uninstall jan. kb4480970 i will still have kb4483187 having installed it by itself.

      Peace Everyone
